Fabric & Colors

Outer Fabrics Used in Namana Bags®

At Namana Bags®, we carefully select high-quality fabrics to ensure durability, functionality, and style for your instrument cases. Here are the main fabric types we use:

1. Outer Fabric

  • Oxford (Nylon)

    • Weave: Oxford.
    • Density: Ranges from 1000D to 1680D, with most cases made from 1200D for optimal performance. For reference, many standard bags and backpacks on the market are made from fabrics with a density of just 600D, which are less wear-resistant and more prone to damage. Choosing materials with a density of at least 1000D ensures enhanced durability and longevity.
    • Coating: Features a PU (polyurethane) coating for excellent water-resistant properties, protecting your instrument from rain. However, it is not designed for complete submersion in water.
  • Sailcloth (Canvas)

    • Material: 100% natural fiber.
    • Water Resistance: Provides some water-repellent properties, though slightly less than Oxford (Nylon).
    • Benefits: Durable and adds a classic, earthy aesthetic to your instrument case.

Both types of outer fabric are highly wear-resistant and designed to withstand the demands of travel and daily use.

2. Maintenance & Care

  • For regular cleaning, use a soapy sponge to wipe the surface gently, then rinse with clean water.
  • Cases made with Oxford (Nylon) are easier to maintain and can sometimes be washed in a washing machine. However, please confirm washing instructions for each specific model beforehand.
  • Sailcloth (Canvas) cases require more careful cleaning and are best maintained with manual washing methods.

By combining these premium fabrics with exceptional craftsmanship, Namana Bags® ensures that your bag not only protects your instrument but also provides unmatched durability and style.

Inner Fabrics Used in Namana Bags®

The inner fabric of our cases is designed to provide maximum protection while ensuring the safety and comfort of your instrument. Here’s what we use:

1. Tafetta (Bologna)

A lightweight, durable fabric with a PU coating for added resistance and durability. This fabric is soft and gentle, making it perfect for protecting delicate surfaces of musical instruments.

2. Reinforced Oxford Fabric

For areas requiring additional strength, such as parts of the case that support heavier loads or come into contact with sharp edges, we use Oxford fabric with a density of 180-210D. This ensures enhanced protection without compromising on the bag’s functionality. Note that Oxford inner fabrics are available in a limited range of colors.

3. Fleece and Velcro-like Fabric

For select designs, we offer inner layers made from synthetic black fleece or velcro-like fabric. These materials provide a soft, plush interior, ideal for sensitive instruments and components.

4. Limited Edition: Fur

For our Limited Edition cases, we use luxurious fur linings, which can be either natural (sheepskin-like) or synthetic fur. This premium option adds a unique aesthetic and offers exceptional cushioning for your instrument.

Care and Maintenance

  • Tafetta (Bologna): Clean with a damp cloth or a soapy sponge for regular maintenance.
  • Oxford Fabric: Wipe with a damp cloth to remove dust or stains. Avoid machine washing to preserve the fabric’s PU coating.
  • Fleece and Fur: Brush gently to remove dirt and ensure the texture remains intact. For synthetic fur, hand washing with mild detergent is recommended.

By combining these specialized inner fabrics, Namana Bags® ensures that every instrument is protected with care and precision, whether you’re transporting a delicate flute or a robust handpan.

Edge Binding Used in Namana Bags®

At Namana Bags®, we use plastic edge binding on select products to enhance both functionality and design.

Key Features of Edge Binding

  • Material: Made from durable plastic.
  • Color Options: Available in a variety of colors to match or accentuate the overall design of the bag.
  • Functionality: The edge binding reinforces the edges of the case, providing additional strength and stability to the structure. This ensures the case maintains its shape and durability even under frequent use.

Benefits

  • Protects the edges of the case from wear and tear, extending its lifespan.
  • Adds a polished, professional look to the final product.
  • Enhances the structural integrity of the bag, making it more resistant to deformation and external impacts.

At Namana Bags®, we’re dedicated to ensuring your instrument receives the best protection possible. If you have any questions about the materials we use, customization options, or care instructions, don’t hesitate to reach out!
