True story
Back in 2012, Elena’s husband was on the hunt for a top-notch and comfy bag for his djembe, but he couldn’t find anything that matched his needs in the market.
Without any prior experience, Elena took it upon herself to handcraft the first-ever case for a musical instrument from start to finish. When her husband and his friends saw the result, they were utterly thrilled!
And that pivotal moment sparked a burning desire in Elena – she was determined to enhance this bag even further. Thus, the inception of Namana Bags was born. The brand has since become synonymous with comfort, signifying their unwavering commitment to not only functionality but also ensuring their products deliver a delightful and pleasant experience to every user.
Where the name comes from
Namana comes from the Ukrainian word “normalno”, which means “fine, all good”. On one of the first cases, Elena embroidered the brand name on the strap. The customer looked at it and said: “This isn’t just namana, it’s awesome!”

This is probably why our regular customers stay with us for many years because we are developing, improving and growing with them!
- At first, there was a naive dream, then a crazy idea came up and as a result, a clear and desired goal appeared. And what do we have from this? Namana Bags!
- Since childhood, I had dreamed of sewing. Nevertheless, I pursued my first education in foreign economic management, and it’s no surprise that I ended up building a career in a large leasing company. My hard work and excellent results bore fruit – I was promptly promoted to the head of the sales department. However, despite the success, something felt amiss…
Then, fate granted me an unexpected push! I encountered MY human – my husband Stan, and my life turned upside down!
He became the guiding light that encouraged me to listen to my heart, valuing my own inner voice over the opinions of others.
With his support, I found the courage to pursue my secret dream – a second degree in psychology.
This newfound knowledge allowed me to realize that my true calling lay elsewhere, far from what I had been doing before.
Fashion designers’ stories began to captivate me, and I found myself utterly engrossed in everything related to the clothing industry.
And thus, the vision of Namana took shape in my mind.

And if you choose us, then we will never part.
After all, a Namana bag (with a particle of our Ukrainian soul) will be with you for many years..
..and then you will order one more bag if you get tired of the past bag color 😀
No matter how amazing it may sound to you, but my husband is a musician
He needed a case for djembe.
Even without education in this area, I felt with all my gut that I could easily sew anything. And fulfilled his desire.
The friends of Stanislav, seeing the bag, were delighted and wanted to bags for themselves. So the first orders appeared, and Namana became even closer to me.
A childhood dream has become a powerful incentive for me! I realized that there is no turning back and never will be. Only forward!
But for a startup, I did not have the financial means, and at this difficult moment my parents became my moral and material support, it was they who gave me the first household sewing machine.
June 1, 2012
The first customer order is a djembe bag.
For more than a year I was like an octopus: I took orders alone, was engaged in the procurement, made calculations, and sewed bags at home in my husband’s cabinet.
I decided to rent a workshop in Dnipro with the financial and moral support of my loved ones. I also bought an old industrial sewing machine.
The first Namana seamstress was hired.
Behind the first seamstress came the second seamstress in the still small Namana family.
The first sales of bags abroad began.
But suddenly, a crisis began in our country.
Slowly but surely we were moving in the right direction.
At that time, we made 300 cases, which were sold in 20 countries.
Namana Bags moved to another spacious workshop.
In just one year, many contracts were signed with manufacturers of various musical instruments.
Due to the increase in orders, 6 more people came to Namana team. Again there was a move, this time to another city: Novomoskovsk (now Samar).
And WOW, over this period production has increased by more than 1000 bags per year.
The Namana Bags team expanded to 11 people and we produced 2000 bags per year.
Now our bags are in more than 30 countries of the world.
Namana also began the production of handpan shells.
We are 13 people, we produced about 2400 bags per year and we want each musician in the world to have an instrument in a comfortable case to be comfortable to travel!
Not news that 2020 has become an ordeal for the whole world. We were not confused and took extreme measures. We had to absolutely change the type of activity for a short time and for several months to sew and sell protective masks (yes-yes, didn't you think, it was masks).
Namana Bags coped only thanks to the efforts of each of the employees whom it really appreciates. By the way, we are already 16. We produced 2700 bags per year. Despite anything, we grow, we grow up the range and work, work, work on yourself and our professionalism.
We persevered through challenging times during the Covid-19 pandemic and emerged stronger than ever.
The Namana Bags team grew to 20 people.
In February 2022, our country was attacked, and despite the ongoing challenges, we have managed to survive and stand firm in our fight for freedom.
The war changed the way we work: today Namana Bags works with independent partners in Ukraine for production, logistics, customer support and finance, and many of them have been with us for years.
We continue to keep up with the times and seek to conquer new vertices!
We are opening a company in Bulgaria to expand our possibilities. Meanwhile, production in Ukraine is continuing despite electricity outages, bombing alarms, supply difficulties, and changes in legislation. We personally visited 9 handpan festivals across Europe and became sponsors of several more, strengthening our connection with the global handpan community.
Namana Bags® regularly supports young and emerging festivals, we focused on creating high‑quality content, relaunched our website, and the whole Namana Bags team keeps doing the impossible to deliver comfort and reliability for musicians worldwide.
We plan to expand into new fields and formats, while staying true to our core mission: to help you feel comfortable creating music anywhere in the universe, wherever you go.
